There are some amazing international sporting events, and the Paris Marathon is undoubtedly one of them. In addition to the physical challenge, one of the toughest on the international circuit, the beauty of a course that weaves amongst the most iconic places of the capital adds a stirring aesthetic dimension to the competition. This year, the route passes a few metres from the Hotel Volney.
An incomparable test
The marathon is at the forefront of challenging sporting events. It demands physical and mental strength, remarkable stamina, technical and strategic skills, and courage. It’s as tough as it gets! However, opportunities to compete are open to professional athletes and (well prepared) amateurs. And this inclusivity all adds to the beauty and diversity of the Paris Marathon, where thousands of personal stories and individual commitments mingle. Are you running this year, or will you be supporting the brave competitors? See you near the Place de l'Étoile on April 2nd, 2023!
A dream route
If you’re running the Paris Marathon, hopefully you’ll have the chance to savour the wonderful scenery unfolding before your eyes. If you attend as a spectator, choose a prime location from which to watch this amazing annual spectacle. This year, the Paris Marathon will start by traversing the Champs-Elysées, going up towards the Opéra Garnier and passing the Louvre before arriving at the Place de la Bastille and moving away towards the Bois de Vincennes. The return will be along the Seine to the Bois de Boulogne before returning to the Arc de Triomphe… Ask the Hotel Volney team for advice if you’re unsure which vantage point to choose for watching the action…
With its wonderful communal atmosphere and individual sporting achievements, the Paris Marathon is an event not to be missed. Take advantage of your stay at the Hotel Volney to join in with the excitement! You will only be a short stroll from the route!
